Lesvos is a popular destination for birdwatchers as the island attracts a wide variety of migratory birds throughout the year. Blessed with flowing bodies of water, Lesvos is proud of its many ecosystems that provide crucial shelter to species rarely seen in the rest of the continent, such as Black Storks, Ruddy Shelducks and Kruper’s Nuthatch. Over 330 bird species are recorded on the island!
The Lesvos island UNESCO Global Geopark was successfully revalidated in 2016 for the period 2017-2020.
